Welcome to our Gig Club Website. Porthleven Gig Club was formed following a meeting in the public hall on 30th January 1990. Ralph Bird was at the meeting and later went on to build both our gigs, Energetic and St Elvan. Like most gig clubs funding relied heavily on members and fund raising. Joyce Gundry was an excellent fund raiser who led the way with coffee mornings, raffles, hundred club and the sale of gig club memorabilia. The colour scheme for the gigs, yellow, white and black were chosen as these are the same as Porthleven Football Club and the colours represent Cornwall. The Energetic is named after the fishing boat, Energetic, remembered by the local people of Porthleven. Porthleveners, whether they are gig club members or not look fondly upon Energetic as OUR GIG! |
